  • Unit Assignments and Project:

  1. Basic Modeling - Table (Basic)
Before you start modeling, create a folder in your OneDrive for your 3D Modeling unit then follow the OneDrive Connection tutorial to get Blender to see your OneDrive account. In the Basic Modeling Tutorial, I'll introduce all of the basic tools and navigation of Blender as we build a very basic table.  After completing the table model, use the Table Color Tutorial to learn how to use materials to add color to models.

  2. Rendering Images (Basic)
When you render an image, Blender will add all the lighting effects, shadows, and shading for your model or scene. Using the Render Image Tutorial, render an image of your table and hand in the finished render.

  3. Vase (Basic)
Let's expand on what we know about modeling through the Vase Tutorial. You will learn how to make curved objects as well as some more advanced color options.

  4. Basic Room (Basic)
Let's build a place for all of our models by creating a basic room. In the Basic Room Tutorial, we will build a corner and learn a little about scaling. Make sure you complete this model in your Room Blender project.

  5. Importing and Placing Objects (Basic)
If you didn't model all of your objects in one project, the Importing and Placing Objects tutorial will show you how. Placement of your objects, as shown in this tutorial, should continue for the rest of this unit project.

  6. Creating a Curved Lamp with a Light (Intermediate)
In the Lamp Tutorial, you'll learn how to create a curved cylinder and create a desk lamp with a working lighting.

  7. Building an Advanced Room (Advanced)
The Building an Advanced Room Tutorial demonstrates how to include doorways and windows for your room. This tutorial should replace the Basic Room completed in an earlier tutorial.

  8. A Picture and Frame (Intermediate)
The Picture Frame tutorial introduces how to use Decals (images from outside of Blender) to add detail to your models. This tutorial will cover how to connect with OneDrive as well.

  9. Nintendo Game System (Advanced)
Time to try something more advanced. In the Nintendo Mesh tutorial, I will show you how to create the shape of the NES system. In the Nintendo Textures tutorial, you'll learn how to add images to all the mesh faces for the details of our model. You will need to download and save the Nintendo-Maps.jpg to our Blender Nintendo model folder.

  10. A Pillowy Couch (Advanced)
It takes a little more work to design something that looks soft, like a pillow. In the Couch Tutorial, you will design the basic structure of a couch. This tutorial can be helpful for designing other furniture like a book shelf. In the Pillow Tutorial, you will learn how to use the Blender cloth simulation to make more realistic soft looking objects like pillows. This tutorial could be used to design a bed as well.

  11. Create A Simple Window (Basic)
In this very basic and short video, you will learn to how to create a reflective surface that could work for objects like windows or ornaments. See the Window Tutorial to get started.

  12. Build a Door (Intermediate)
The Door Tutorial will show you how to create a more interesting door complete with wood pleats and door knob.

  13. 3D Modeling Crossword
Check your unit vocabulary by completing the Modeling Crossword. When you have finished it, take a screen shot of the finished version and hand it in to the Digital Hand In Folder. Use our File Naming System please. Eg: ModelingXword_BartS.jpg. Use the Screen Capture Tutorial to help you with handing in this assignment.

  14. Format in Photoshop (Basic)
The final step to completing your room is render your final images of your models and then bring the rendered images into Photoshop to combine them into one image. Use the Format In Photoshop Tutorial to get started.

  15. Room Project Outline
For the final project in this unit, you will design a room of your choice. It could be any room, but popular ones include: bedrooms, living rooms, or rec rooms. Read the Room Project Outline to get started.
